What happens when a former academic enters civic tech?

You get someone ready to learn any topic, a trained educator, a resourceful planner, an evidence-based leader, an expert in large state and federal institutions, and a scientist who knows how to measure impact.

I've been studying and leading humans since 2010 with the goal of improving lives and making public services more accessible.

I'm a hands-on leader who doesn't micromanage

As a former practitioner who keeps her skills sharp, I am always ready to get my hands dirty and jump in to guide my team. However, the most important thing on my team is trust. This means I don't hover or micromanage. I set norms for regular check-ins and clear expectations. My goal as a leader is to remove any blockers in my team's way and provide the tools and safety they need to shine. Two-way feedback is crucial on teams I lead to keep everyone accountable and aligned on goals.
